Shiny Pokémon
Shiny Pokémon are different coloured Pokémon that have no other purpose other than being rarer than the normal coloured variant. Every Pokémon and form has a Shiny variant and no Shiny is Shiny-locked as long as the Pokémon is obtainable. The odds of obtaining a Shiny Pokémon differs depending on events and the rarity of a Pokémon, with common Pokémon being easier to Shiny hunt compared to most Legendaries.
Methods That Boost Shiny Odds

Shiny Hunting Methods
Breeding
Breeding is one of the best methods because it is easy to control what Pokémon you are hunting. This also helps obtain Shiny versions of Pokémon that are harder to obtain such as Ultra Ball Rarity Pokémon, Season specific Pokémon, Regional forms, and certain Novelties. Pokémon with a single gender only have a 50% chance to produce that Pokémon as it must breed with a different Pokémon making it more difficult to Shiny hunt. Due to some Pokémon being unable to breed, either no egg-group or genderless, these Pokémon can only be found Shiny through other methods which makes them rarer than most Shiny Pokémon.
Summon Items
You can obtain rare Pokémon from Summon Items, usually a legendary. These are affected by Community Weekend so it’s best to save them until a Community Weekend of a matching type starts and then summon the item during it to get a shiny boost on the Pokémon summoned.
Egg Steps
All Pokémon have a different amount of steps they need before they hatch. Pokémon with less steps hatch faster so you can adopt more Pokémon if you only adopt Pokémon with low step requirements. If you want to also hunt a Pokémon that takes many steps its best to only adopt one or two and keep the rest of your party with low steps to continue adopting more Pokémon, especially on days with a low Multiplier, or else you'll be stuck with the same party of eggs for the rest of the day.
Clickbacks
If you click other people’s eggs and Pokémon, they will be more inclined to click back, speeding up the time it takes to hatch your eggs. This will allow you to adopt more eggs quicker and continue hunting for a shiny.
Mystery Counter
If the Mystery Counter breaks, the next day will have a 2x Multiplier which doubles the steps eggs get from interactions making them hatch much faster, so you can adopt far more eggs that day.
