When I first started playing Poliwager, I felt like making any amount of progress was impossible without having to make clicking my new full-time job. If you're new to Poliwager and feel the same way, don't despair; it'll get really fun soon, and with some of these methods, you can get to it even faster!

Each big heading will describe one question or sticking point people tend to have, and the little headings will describe methods of fixing them. I speak mainly from my own experience when suggesting solutions, so hopefully they will be of practical use.

If you have more questions, you can go to the "Discussion" tab at the top to ask them. You can also go to the Poliwager Forums or Discord, or even just PM me (LinneaBorealis) or another moderator in Adoptables itself. Poliwager's community is very welcoming and will be happy to help you out!

How do I make money easily?

Mount Chimney

The #1 easiest way to make money in Poliwager's early game is by walking at Mt. Chimney. When you walk around Mt. Chimney, there's a chance to find both colored Shards and Comet Shards. The colored Shards aren't worth much, but the Comet Shard is worth $15,000 per item, and you'll find both more often than you'd think. Be sure to visit Mt. Chimney as often as you can!

The Go-Goggles don't improve your chances of finding items, so if you want to make money fast then you should skip them until you own HM08 Dive. However, if you want to complete the Pokédex as quickly as possible, then buying Go-Goggles before HM08 Dive is acceptable.

HM08 Dive

Once you earn enough money, the HM08 Dive should be your first priority. This allows you to visit the Underwater Area, which is like Mt. Chimney but with different and more common drops. The Big Pearl is worth $4,000, but is much more common than the Comet Shard.

The Scuba Gear DOES improve your chance of finding items, so after buying HM08 Dive you should get the Scuba Gear. Be sure to buy Dive first though - Scuba Gear doesn't do anything until Dive is unlocked!

Daily Challenge Prizes

Daily Challenges are very helpful for finding items to sell. Each level gives different items:

The Bronze Challenge isn't worth much, only giving a berry and a camping ingredient. The berry can't be sold, and the camping ingredient is worth more being used to raise a Pokémon's EXP and happiness. Good goal for bad internet or loading times, but generally not recommended for making quick money.

The Silver Challenge is best for making money, giving a berry and an Evolution Item or Stone for 500 clicks. In general, Stones are more common than Items and are worth selling in order to get HM08 Dive. See below for more on selling these, but in general, this is the best way to go for fast money in the beginning.

The Gold Challenge is very valuable but not as good for making money, giving a rare item and a Berry. The rare item could be a special collectible, a Mystery Box or Mystery Key, or a special Summoning Item. In general, these rare prizes are worth too much to be sold, and at 1,000 clicks per day they may require a large amount of grinding to get.

Selling Evolution Stones

Evolution stones are worth more as money than for evolving Pokémon early game. This may seem counter-intuitive, since Evolution Stones let you collect even more Pokémon. But in the early game, you find a lot of Pokémon very fast, and most of them are going to level up through EXP rather than evolution stones. You can begin using stones on Pokémon once you own Dive and Scuba Gear.

Evolution stones are always available in the Poké Mart for $2,100 as well as from the Silver Daily Prize. Making $2,100 will be much easier once you own HM08 Dive and Scuba Gear, and the Silver Daily Prize can be earned by clicking 500 Pokémon in one day (which isn't too much of a time investment if your loading speed is good.)

Evolution stones and evolution items are not quite the same, though. Evolution items come in a wider variety, only evolve one or two species of Pokémon, and are in general harder to find. Both stones and items cost $2100 in the store, but you may want to save the items since they're harder to get for free.
