You just had a funny idea for an article. This article is so funny that you just fell out of your chair laughing and a flock of Emolgas came out your ears without you even having written it. If you don't post it on the Poliwager Wiki you feel like everyone in the universe will be missing an amazing joke and that your life will be incomplete.

However, mainspace wiki articles do need to be mostly serious, or else this whole thing would become a wiki of silliness and would need to be shut down before it grew arms and legs. So where do humorous articles go?

They go in userspace. Userspace is where your user page is located, and it has few rules on what goes in it; so long as your content doesn't constitute harassment or contain other unsafe material, you can write whatever you want in it. Humor articles should all be userspace pages, as a subpage of your user page.

How do I make a humor article / user subpage?

The first thing you'll need is a user page. You'll need to log in to see it; you'll need to make an account here in order to log in.

Are you logged in? Great. In the search bar at the top of the page, put the exact title of your user page at the top of the screen. It should look like this: User:YourName

Now, at the end of that, add a slash, and then the exact name of your new page: User:YourName/Snazzy New Article

Hit the Enter key and you'll be brought to the page your new article will be on. Click the Edit/Create button and you're all set to begin writing your humorous article!

What if I made a humor article in the wrong place?

Oops. You wrote your legendarily hilarious article in the mainspace by accident. You worked so hard on it, and you don't want it to be deleted just because you put it in the wrong space! What do you do?!?!?!?!?

First: calmly put a Template:To be moved on it. Make sure to state why and to where you'd like it moved in the reason box, and to sign your name in the signature box.
To put the template on the page, put this at the top of the article as well as its talk page:
{{To be moved|text=Put reason for move here|newloc= Exact name of new location|sig=~~~~}}

Second: Wait for a user with move privileges to ask about moving your page, or go find one and ask them to move it to your preferred userspace title.

Third: They'll move your page for you. Crisis averted!

What else can I use userspace pages for?

There are all sorts of other things you can use user pages for! Here's a few ideas:

  • A "sandbox" page is a page where you can test things out! If you title your user subpage something that begins with the word Sandbox (like User:YourName/Sandbox1) then your page will be designated as a sandbox where you can test your own templates and other wiki functions without worrying about breaking things.
  • Draft mainspace pages can go in userspace if you feel that you'd only like to post it once it's ready.
  • To-Do lists and such can have their own userpages!
